OPENCUT WEAR

Design Concept

The idea of Opencut originated from my desire to launch my own clothing brand. Opencut is an alternative clothing line for individuals who prefer to dress in dark shades of colors. The company provides a collection of jackets and shirts that can be worn both casually and formally since they have a simple, modern look.

Objective

Creating an alternative clothing line with a modern design that reflects dark fashion without the usual extravagant clothing designs seen in alternative stores.

Target Audience

The target audience includes teenagers, emo, goths, as well as people who may become interested in the modern, dark fashion that Opencut offers.

My Duty

Branding, Web Design, UX UI Design, Advertising, Merchandise

Inspiration

I was inspired by many clothing brands that reflect the dark and modern alternative look that I wish to achieve for Opencut, including Fear of God, Drop Dead, Undercover, Wasted, and many others.

Sketches
When I was considering the name of the clothing line, I began thinking of song titles from rock and metal bands. Opencut is a play on the words of "Papercut", a song by my favorite rock band, Linking Park. From there I decided to add a red slash to the O, dividing the letter in two, representing the bleeding cut. The name of the brand implies sympathy and attention, which is what Opencut strives to achieve with their clothes
Logo Design

While designing the logo, I used a blackletter typeface with hard, aggressive edges to emphasize the feel of the brand's name and give it a distinctive look.

FINAL LOGO DESIGN

MOCKUPS
The final results for the brand now consists of a tag for clothing, a website of the store for both computers and smartphones, since most people purchase clothing online rather than in stores. This project includes a mockup of the store from the outside, shirt designs, a bag for clothes, a magazine, and business cards.
REFLECTION
In this project, I realized how different it is to design a clothing brand as opposed to designing a product, as designing a clothing brand involves more thought about what kinds of clothing you intend to offer not just the branding. Furthermore, the project conveys my ideal for my clothing line, in that it is clear what audience it targets and presents a range of clothing that most people would enjoy wearing
