SHINI-RAMEN RESTAURANT
Design Concept
One of my favorite dishes is ramen, a Japanese dish I have always enjoyed. This inspired me to create a ramen restaurant that depicts the darker side of Japanese culture, engaging visitors as well as making it unique and interesting.

Objective
Design an underground restaurant that allows visitors to experience Japanese culture in a whole new way. Incorporate the dark theme into the food, the menu, the uniforms and other aspects of the restaurant.
Target Audience
The target group is mainly young adults aged 21 and above who want to learn about the Supernatural culture of Japan while trying some really good ramen.
My Duty
Concept Development, Graphics, Logo Design, Branding
Objective
First, I based my ideas on the Oni Mask, which is the mask of an ogre or troll from Japanese mythology. Some other inspiration came from samurai legends, Japanese horror movies and dark anime.

Sketches
My design concept for the logo was based on dark Japanese icons combined with Asian food items, such as a ramen bowl, chopsticks, a scroll, and a katana sword. This inspired me to create a combination icon that represents both the food and Japanese demons. The brand's name is derived from combining Shinigami and Ramen. The word "Shinigami" refers to a Japanese god of death.
Logo Design
It appeared that the more agressive demonic bowl had everything I had in mind to represent the restaurant, so I used colors that represent a demon, such as dark black, red, and dirty yellow. I used a variety of Asian typefaces with the logo, using abstract, serif and san serif typefaces with an asian style.

FINAL LOGO DESIGN

PATTERNS
The patterns were meant to illustrate a simple oni mask combined with floral designs that can be seen on the flags of the various states throughout Japan.
